Very useful. How risky is it using templates until you are in a position where you can afford to pay for a lawyer or are these pretty much up to the standard a lawyer would produce and are they geared at specific types of products like download vs saas or are they general?
Great questions Paul! In terms of being risky, it’s always risky doing a contract without a lawyer if you don’t know any Contractual Law but it’s not a super difficult law to comprehend. Here’s a good resource for understanding the ins and outs of Contractual Law. Once you understand the fundamentals, you’ll be able to take these templates and mold them to your specific business.
With any contract templates, the basic sections usually remain and then you would add in any specific clauses (regarding SaaS or whichever business type you’re requiring it for).
